A gas generating station is being developed at Rockingham. To support this development:

  • a contractor (CM Utilities) is laying a gas main from Kings Weston Lane to Rockingham via the A403.
  • a contractor (Western Power Distribution) is taking electricity cables from the sub station at Avonmouth Way, up Kings Weston Lane, Merebank Road and Poplar Way West, to Smoke Lane.

Bristol City Council has ensured that they will not both be on the A403 at the same time.

Update on the 33kV cable work – 20th April 2018

Work on laying a 33kv cable is progressing along Avonmouth Way from the Davies Turner end to the substation (approx. 700 meters). This should be completed soon.

Traffic management via lights will be in place for the whole time. O’Connor Utilities will be on site working each day from 07:00 to 18:00 (12 days on, 2 days off).

Where possible, we would advise avoiding Avonmouth Way during the period of these works.

From Monday 23rd April until 10th May they will also be working on Kings Weston Lane in the area of Avonmouth Way. Two way signals will be in operation.

Once Avonmouth Way is complete the works will move to Smoke Lane. This will impact the verge and cycle path and take around one week.
