19th January 2016 update

The overall programme has been delayed by approx. one week. This has been caused by technical difficulties at the surfacing plant. A revised programme is expected at the end of the month.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused by the temporary lights at the Asda junction. These will be in place until the end of this week. The resurfacing crew unfortunately took out the lights on Friday (15th) when the wiring turned out to be laid differently than expected.

We have received some comments about the condition of the recently surfaced St Andrews Road.  We would like to take this opportunity to explain that the works have not been completed and any defects will be rectified.

We would also like to remind companies and their drivers that Kings Weston Lane has an enforceable weight limit of 7.5t.  We apologise that the works might be causing delays but HGV drivers should not be using Kings Weston Lane as an alternative.

The Highways and Traffic Team can be contacted by email (highways.traffic@bristol.gov.uk),or call 0117-903-6822.

It is likely that there will be temporary traffic lights for 24 hours a day for 4 days from the beginning of this week (4th January 2016) until it is repaired.

Programme of works 291015

7th September Update

Works were completed on Kings Weston Lane junction last week.

Works have already begun near the Asda junction and we will be monitoring how well traffic flows through this junction.  If the right turn into Asda becomes an issue and traffic begins to queue we will consider using four-way temporary signals.

As works move south we will be monitoring how easily traffic can turn right, particularly into Third Way. If necessary we will use three-way signals to manage traffic.  Where possible we will accommodate a dedicated right turn lane.

An updated programme will be available week commencing 14th September.

25th August 2015 update …

Works are currently at Kings Weston lane junction but have experienced a weeks delay, due to be completed by 1st September, because of the poor condition of the kerbs which will now need replacing. At busy times there can be long delays if there are a number of vehicles attempting to turn right. Whilst we have considered banning the right turn into Kings Weston lane or introducing temporary three-way signals these would have likely compounded the issue and negatively affect businesses on Kings Weston lane.

We are monitoring the junction and are making small adjustments to the timings of the signals to manage the traffic flow. We do ask that if possible and convenient, people consider accessing Kings Weston Lane from either Poplar Way West and Merebank Road or via Long Cross.

In the following weeks the works will continue to move south. Two way traffic flow will be maintained without signals but we may have to consider limiting the number of right turn movements at peak periods.

If at any time the traffic management is causing you severe problems please do not hesitate to contact the Highways and Traffic team on 0117 9036822 or email highways.traffic@bristol.gov.uk.
