Date: Thurs. Mar 20th from 07:30 to 09:00
Host: Bristol North West Foodbank, Space4Makers, St Andrew’s Church
Venue: St. Andrew’s Church, Avonmouth Rd., Avonmouth. BS11 9EN

Our hosts, St Andrew’s Church, Bristol North West Foodbank & Space4Makers woodworking workshop, will share the impact of their work and the opportunities for social change through the development of a business partnership.

Since launching the Bristol NW Foodbank charity in 2011, approximately 82,000 emergency food parcels have been provided to local people facing times of crisis: be this low income, unemployment, poor health, domestic violence, debt, homelessness, or food for families during school holidays.

Alongside this, the Foodbank has developed a portfolio of additional services including advice support, debt advice, cookery courses, the provision of clothes and household goods and woodworking courses to address need in the local area.

Foodbanks across the country are working to determine why people have increasingly turned to foodbanks and, as a part of this, we desire to address issues of unemployment, especially among young people (16-24 years old).

The purpose of this breakfast is to share more about our desire to offer the transformative coaching of the Spear Programme in Avonmouth, and develop formal links with the Portbury Avonmouth Severnside businesses with the purpose of increasing employability and raising aspiration in the surrounding residential areas. Spear is an initiative from Resurgo, a national charity that supports young people into work.

Wessex Water continue to support the operation of the Foodbank and are reaching out to local businesses to explore opportunities to partner together to invest in this amazing work.

Foodbank staff, trustees and volunteers are providing tours around the Bristol North West Foodbank Social Justice Hub, including the Foodbank warehouse and Space4Makers woodworking workshop after the meeting.

The agenda will include:

  • Work of the Social Justice Hub
  • Space4makers workshop – the impact two years on
  • The development of a Spear Hub in Avonmouth
  • Developing a Business Partnership

Come along and join the discussion.
We look forward to seeing you on March 20th
