Bristol City Council (BCC) is pleased to let you know that Portway Park & Ride’s remodelled bus entrance is reopening on Friday 12 September.

From this time the number 9 bus will use the new entrance to pick up and drop off Park & Ride users.

Ahead of reopening, they need to finish off the road resurfacing works outside the Park & Ride.

This means they need to close the A4 Portway overnight tonight (Thursday 4 September) from 8pm to 6am in both directions between West Town Road and Barrow Hill Road.

While access along the Portway for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained, diversions will be in place overnight, signposting all vehicles, including HGVs, through Shirehampton, with weight restrictions being temporarily suspended.

Vehicles will still be able to enter Portway Park & Ride via West Town Road, with marshals on hand to guide vehicles wishing to exit.

Bus services 37 and X14 will be diverted, however, the number 9 bus will still pick-up and drop-off outside the Park & Ride.

The £2 million Portway Park & Ride bus entrance project is being funded by the UK government as part of the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement, secured by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority.

Find out more about the bus gate reopening by reading BCC’s press release.

BCC thank you for bearing with them throughout these works.
