Abnormal Load – Tunnel Boring Machine being transported through Avonmouth to Lawrence Weston between Thurs. 4th and Fri. 5th June

The large tunnel boring machine (TBM) which is being used as part of Wessex Water’s North Bristol relief sewer scheme, is expected to be arriving in Lawrence Weston between Thursday 4 June and Friday 5 June.

We understand that the abnormal indivisible load will transit from the motorway via J18, St. Andrew’s Road and Kings Weston Lane into Lawrence Weston late afternoon today and will be travelling with an escort.

The machine will be used to bore a 5.5km underground tunnel from Lawrence Weston to Cribbs Causeway, even going under the M5 motorway, in order to construct the £55m new sewer.

If we get any more precise details on time and route we will let you know.

You can learn more about the scheme here.
