Portbury Avonmouth Severnside offers a wealth of opportunity for career and skills development with its diverse industrial mix.
This includes transport, warehousing, distribution and logistics as well as engineering, manufacturing and ‘green’ industries including recycling and energy
Many employers offer apprenticeship schemes and career development.
There has been a drift over the years away from local delivery of higher education and skills development. SevernNet has been working hard with stakeholders to enable the development of a local ‘Skills Academy without walls’. This will bring together the range of training and skills development offers across the area under ‘one virtual roof’.
SevernNet has recently formed a strategic partnership with City of Bristol College, Weston College and S. Glos. and Stroud College to help move this forward.
