Venue: St. Andrew’s Church,  Avonmouth Rd., Avonmouth. BS11 9EN

Hosts Bristol North West Foodbank & St Andrew’s Church will provide insights into how inequalities, vulnerability and hardship are being supported through work in the community.

Since launching the Bristol NW Foodbank charity in 2011, approximately 70,000 emergency food parcels have been provided to local people facing times of crisis: be it low income, unemployment, poor health, domestic violence, debt, homelessness, or food for families during school holidays.

Each year about 400 Christmas hampers are given out alongside the normal food provision, which are often packed by volunteers from local businesses.

Since 2017 the charity has been able to employ advice workers who have provided over 3000 advice sessions relating to benefits, housing, employment, family breakdown and so much more.

The Foodbank launched another new dimension to it’s work in 2019, called HomeBank, which has provided additional help to 2500 people, everything from clothes, white goods, kitchenwares, small electrical items, curtains, tents, sleeping bags.

All this is made possible by a fantastic team of about 110 volunteers, 16 staff, about 400 agencies, schools and charities who refer people for help, and a wide range of churches, schools, business, and individuals, who give financially to support the charity.

Revd. Andy Murray will show us around the Bristol North West Foodbank Social Justice Hub, including the Foodbank warehouse and Space4Makers;  and we’ll hear about the inspiring determination that got Space4Makers off the ground and operational.

The agenda will include:

  • an overview of how the partnership between the Bristol North West Foodbank and St. Andrew’s Church has evolved;
  • the breadth of support provided across Portbury Avonmouth Severnside and beyond
  • the development of Space4Makers
  • what’s delivered and how we can all be part of the story.

Come along, join the discussion, and find out more.
We look forward to seeing you on July 20th
