The Mayor of the West of England, Tim Bowles, is calling out to businesses across the area, on behalf of our local NHS and care system in the West of England, to ask for your support in the response to COVID-19.
Due to overwhelming and unprecedented demand, there is a serious challenge in supplying the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), which is vital to the safe treatment of COVID-19 patients, to frontline health and care workers.
The NHS and care system is seeking donations – large or small – or excess stock of the following PPE components:
- Fluid-repellent face masks
- Aprons
- Gloves
- Safety glasses
- Re-usable washable goggles
- Hand sanitizer (minimum 60% alcohol content).
In addition to PPE, there is also need of Perspex bulkheads (which would also need to be installed). These are needed to protect reception and patient transport staff.
If you are able to help in any way please contact the NHS and council teams coordinating the response via:
bnssg.supportoffer@nhs.net if they are in Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire,
covid-19incidentcomms@bathnes.gov.uk if they are in Bath and North East Somerset
Tim Bowles “I have been proud of the many West of England businesses which have already stepped up to support the national effort to tackle COVID-19. We have always been a region where we work together and support each other, and this has never been more important than at this time of national need. Thank you for your help at this difficult time.”
