The bridge linking the A4 to the M5 will be closed overnight from Mon 8th Nov to Sat. 13th November.This is to allow National Highways to carry out a series of surveys to ensure the bridge remains in good condition. We’ll be carrying out drainage surveys, taking coring samples and digging trial holes. We’re working overnight when traffic flows are at their lowest and we’ll complete noisiest works before 11pm, where possible. While the closures are in place a diversion route will be signed via Portway roundabout, the A4 and Crowley Way roundabout. Essential maintenance works need to be carried out on the approach to St Brendan’s roundabout, off junction 18 of the M5.To minimise disruption, we’ll work overnight when there are fewer vehicles on the road.During the day we will keep the carriageway open as usual. Dates of workThe work will take place on the evening on Monday, 15 November until the morning of Saturday, 20 November.Work to install the traffic management will start at 8pm each night, with the closure in place between 10pm and 6am. Traffic managementThe work will be carried out under a full closure of the M5 southbound exit slip at junction18.Traffic will be diverted to junction 19, circulate to M5 northbound, off at M5 junction 18 exit slip to the Portway roundabout and finally to St Brendan’s roundabout via the A4.The diversion will be fully signed, but please allow extra time for your journey.
