Each year Bristol City Council and South Gloucestershire Council provide a Travel to Work Survey. This year the two councils have joined forces with Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset Councils to get a wider picture of travel to work across the West of England area.

The survey will be available between 6-10th March 2023. It will take staff around 3 minutes to complete. The survey includes simple questions on how staff travelled to work that day, and how they normally travel. It also asks how satisfied they are with their journey and some basic info on when and where they are travelling.

Taking part can help your business to:

  • Keep an accurate record of how your staff travel to work – useful for travel plans & reporting.
  • Identify and address issues around how your staff get to work.
  • Manage your staff car parking and support sustainable travel to work.
  • Monitor your company travel trends year on year, if you participate every year.

The West of England Unitary Authorities will use the summary findings to attract new investment for transport in the area. It also helps target new spending on infrastructure and new public transport services.

After the survey your business will be provided with a full breakdown of your results if you received responses from 30+ members of staff. The Councils will also circulate an overall analysis for the whole area for comparison. Individuals and organisations will remain anonymous.
