We’re recruiting for a Roadworks Coordinator for a few hours a week to help us maintain our Roadworks reporting service. Let us know if this would be of interest to anyone you know.

Ongoing Roadworks and related:

• Severn Crossings works (see below for detail)
• M48 HGV weight limit restrictions
• M49 Junction Link Road Project – Work commenced – estimated completion late 2026

Short Term Roadworks:

• Roadworks disruption on junction of Kings Weston Lane and St. Andrew’s Rd – 10th March 2026
• M5 J19 Bridge Refurbishment Weekend Working and Closures – this and next weekend 
• Kings Rd Closure – Sunday 8th March- 08:00-10:00
• Avonmouth Way works at junction with Access 18 private road – 2 weeks from 2nd March 2026

Please let us know if you see apparent roadworks or congestion without an obvious cause or that don’t seem to be doing anything. We can then do our best to investigate.

Roadworks disruption on junction of Kings Weston Lane and St. Andrew’s Rd – 10th March 2026

As you may well be aware there is significant travel disruption being caused by the roadworks at the junction of St. Andrew’s Rd and Kings Weston Lane.

This is, unfortunately, unavoidable as Wales and West Utilities (WWU) seek to locate and deal with an emergency problem with their network locally. We understand that, all being well, the work should be completed, surfaces re-instated and signals removed tomorrow.

Bristol City Council has instructed WWU to ensure that the signals are manually controlled between 07:00 and 19:00.

To ensure that a safe working area and pedestrian facilities are maintained the signals are required.

If you are able to avoid this area whilst the signals are in place, particularly during peak times, that would be appreciated.

If there is any change to the above we will endeavour to inform you.

Severn Crossings Update (as of 19th Feb 2026)

Please find below information from National Highways (NH) concerning the Severn Crossings planned closures starting from Thu. 19th Feb to Mon. 23rd March

Within these closures NH will be undertaking a variety of maintenance work which reduces the risk of emergency closures particularly in this prolonged period of wet weather.

Please also note that from Monday 23 February for up to 2 weeks, NH will be working overnight at M4 J23a Magor roundabout and slip roads to install temporary traffic signals in partnership with the Welsh Government and Monmouthshire County Council.

Please plan ahead for the bridge refurbishment work taking place at junction 19 of the M5 this and next weekend.

The programme of work involves repairs to the concrete bridge parapets, the replacement of damaged bridge expansion joints, surface renewal and drainage and verge improvements.

To enable the work:

• the south deck of the bridge will be closed from 20:00 this Friday (6 March) until 06:00 on Monday, 9 March
• the north deck will be closed the following weekend, from 20:00 on Friday, 13 March to 06:00 on Monday, 16 March.

 The M5 will run as normal, and the two sectional weekend closures will allow for restricted movements around the junction, with clearly signed diversion routes as per the diagrams below.

Diversions from 20:00 Fri 13th March until 06:00 Monday 16th March for North Deck of Bridge

National Highways: “We appreciate there will be some impacts during this essential renewal work, we thank drivers for their patience and advise people to plan ahead, find alternative routes and allow extra time for their journeys over the two weekends.”

This work will ultimately bring smoother journeys for drivers and reduce the requirement for regular maintenance closures.
