Aug 2025 update
Our Route 40 Community Bus service, funded through the West of England Combined Authority WESTLocal programme, will be operating under a new timetable from Mon 1st September 2025.
The bus links the communities of Avonmouth, Lawrence Weston and Brentry, and based on popular demand the service will be extended to Cribbs Causeway throughout the day.
The service runs Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 18:00, and is operated by The Big Lemon.

Do you know about Big Lemon’s no. 40 bus? After First bus’ route changes to the 3 and 4, a need arose to create a new a bus service to keep Avonmouth connected. The service is running from the Brentry Roundabout on Crow Lane, through Henbury and Lawrence Weston to Avonmouth, Farr Street. On schooldays there is also an afternoon school service from St Bede’s School to Cribbs Causeway via Station Road, Henbury. SEE TIMETABLES and route here
Use it or lose it! With funding in place for a limited time, the operator may only be able to continue the service if sufficient numbers use it. This WESTlocal route is an 18 month trial funded by the West of England Combined Authority and delivered in partnership with SevernNET.
